Putin taking a page out of Chavez's book

By Aleksander Boyd

London 31.01.06 | It seems that Russia's premier Vladimir Putin is re-enacting chavista policies, or is it the other way round? The Beeb reports today "Putin warning over 'puppet' NGOs" "We are for their funding being transparent... we don't want them led by puppeteers from abroad," said Putin and continued "Let them stay... It will be nicer for us to know that we can keep an eye on these people." Furthermore Putin has passed some legislation to keep NGO activities and financing -in case these attempt against the "sovereignty of the country," on check. Isn't such stance strickingly similar to that of castroite Chavez? Do the world's autocrats have a red phone to talk and share experiences with each other?

Cindy Sheehan, from grieving mother to useful idiot

With such a catchy and appropriate title George, over at The Real Cuba, explains the sort of company this 'grieving' mother keeps. He has also the latest about the Cuban dictator and how the news ticker in the US Diplomatic Mission in Havana, with its freedom messages, is driving him up the wall. Kudos to the Yanks for sticking two fingers up the deranged strongman's arse.
