When death touches the family

By Aleksander Boyd

"Incierto es el lugar donde la muerte te espera; espérala pues, en todo lugar." Séneca

London 26.01.06 | Alberto Arrieta used to work as a driver / bodyguard in Venezuela's Ministry of Finance. Late last night, after he safely dropped his new boss, presumably Nelson Merentes, he headed for home in Montalban with a colleague but decided to stop in "El Triangulo," close to El Pinar in Av. Paez, El Paraiso -West Caracas- to have hot dogs. Driving a spanking new SUV in a city where abject poverty is the norm, rather than the exception, they must have drawn attention...

As he was having his perro caliente a couple of thugs pulled guns on them in order to steal the SUV. Both being employees of the Chavez regime, they too pulled their firearms and so the gunfight began. A bullet entered Alberto's cheek killing him almost instantly. He was 37 years old.

He leaves behind my sister in law and their 4 year old son, and a 7 year old daughter from a previous marriage.
