The recall referendum: latest hit in VenezuelaBy Aleksander BoydLondon 26.04.04 - My father used to tell me "one of the most amazing characteristics of the idiosyncrasy of Venezuelans is their ability to make fun of everything.” As an example he would refer to a joke about the tragedy in Maracaibo’s bridge, when an Esso oil tanker collided with one of the columns of the bridge causing the death of motorists. The situation of the country today is far worse, in every imaginable way, than it was back in those days, nevertheless a band (Palermo) has composed a rap song in regards to the recall referendum that says it all in a rather comical way (apologies to the language impaired).
